Mice & Keyboards
Picked for the people sitting near you
Updated · Research-based, not lab-tested · How we review
Noise is the complaint people regret ignoring. A keyboard that feels wonderful alone becomes a problem in a shared room, and on a video call your microphone hears every keystroke before your colleagues hear you. These five are chosen for that specifically. Membrane and scissor boards are generally the quietest; where a listing specifies dampened or low-profile switches we say so, and clicky switches are excluded on purpose. Layout matters almost as much — a board you can reach around comfortably keeps you from bottoming out hard on every press, which is where most of the noise actually comes from. Every pick links to a full review with what the manufacturer states and what we could not verify.

A receiver occupies a USB-A port but pairs instantly and works before the operating system loads. Bluetooth frees the port and often switches between two or three devices.
Dropping the number pad gives your mouse several centimetres back. Full-size suits spreadsheets; tenkeyless and 75% suit small desks.
Layouts drawn to scale →Membrane and scissor keys and silent mouse switches are far quieter on calls than clicky mechanical switches.
A handshake grip can ease wrist strain, but only if the mouse suits your hand; most listings state a hand size, and many are right-handed only.

Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch TV Keyboard
Techgage used it from the couch with a home-theatre PC about 11 feet away: the receiver did not need line of sight, the touchpad registered gestures accurately, typing was quick and quiet, and it woke from idle in under half a second.
Limitation: No backlighting, shorter key travel than other membrane keyboards they had tested, and some key icons that took time to learn.
Source: techgage.com (checked 2026-10-15)If you take calls all day, favor a listing that says "silent" or "quiet" outright over one that only says "membrane" — and put a desk mat underneath whatever you choose, because the hard surface is often half the noise.
